Impossible Community
How to make art useful to society.
This exhibition, curated by Viktor Miziano, is dedicated to the aesthetic of interaction. The term was invented at the end of the 1990s by the French theorist and curator Nicolas Bourriaud, and refers to art that erases the boundary between itself and the audience. Audiences are to be co-creators of an artwork, and should become involved in the process of art. A whole generation of artists has worked with this aesthetic, and now their work is on show in Moscow, including Britain's Jeremy Deller, Poland's Pawel Althamer, the Ukrainian group SOSka and Russian artists from the ESCAPE Programs group.

Со здания Государственного музея современного искусства Российской академии художеств (ММСИ) на Гоголевском бульваре сняли провокационный плакат арт-группы IRWIN, часть проекта «Невозможное сообщество». В работе под названием «First NSK. Citizens` congress» словенские художники размышляют об историческом прошлом коммунизма: транспарант с ярким слоганом должен был отсылать зрителя к оруэлловской антиутопии. Сообщается, что работа IRWIN была вывешена в пятницу, 3 сентября, а уже через несколько часов исполнительному директору ММСИ Василию Церетели «позвонили с просьбой демонтировать плакат, дабы не смущать москвичей в День города».
